Adventure at Abu Simbel

In case we can't get the Word document software working, these are some pictures from our trip to Abu Simbel. We were picked up from Aswan at 3:15 in the morning.
We traveled in a 27 passenger van that was packed to the gills.

We were traveling through desert in the official middle of nowhere. Toward the Sundanese border. The road at some points was covered completely with sand. Here it is covered with tar as the road workers were preparing to repave it. It was like driving through mollasses.

Here we are in front of the main temple of Abu Simbel. Needless to say, the statues are immense.

Jacob and Craig climb up the sand hill with Lake Nasser beyond them and the temples to their right.

Here Jacob holds the official key of life, which is also the real key to the front door of the Temple of Nefreteri....next to the Temple of Ramsesses II.
