Upper Yosemite Falls and Columbia Rock - Way Up the Mountain!

This hike was definitely an altitude changer - more or less a constant series of switchbacks up the mountain - without much of a break. Our initial goal was to reach Columbia Rock which is about half way up to the falls. For whatever reason the powers that be put no sign on Columbia Rock. When we reached that point, I sat down, admired the view of Half Dome, and decided that sign or no sign, this was the rock. Nancy and Jacob pressed on, further up the hill. Sooner or later the travel crested then went around the corner and down. They were treated to a gorgeous view of the falls, where they met up with another bunch of hikers plus a very young ranger. I caught up with Nancy and Jacob within view of the falls, and we were joined by the ranger for the walk back. We made it back to the base just before dark, a bit sore but very thrilled with our experience.
